Devotion of the Day

Freedom from clumsiness! The cream at the top of the bottle.  White lace dresses.  Ideal conditions.  The occasional luxury.  Special places your grandfather took you.   Freedom from strained silence.  Friends with whom you can laugh about your goof ups! Easter cards.  Brightly coloured parachute nylon.  Landing gear.  Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  The innocence of children.  Freedom from boom boxes outside your apartment.  Computer programs that run.  Correcting typewriting ribbons.  Watchdogs that are.  Children who do not whine.  Laughing so hard you can barely stand up.

Prayer of the Day

For all children who don't have a bed to sleep in and don't get as much food  and help and care as we.  For all children who don't have their own quiet corner or toys to play with, who must go away from their home, from father and mother  -I'm praying: God protect them!  Send someone to their rescue and let them get a home.

Devotion of the Day

Prayer chapels in hospitals. Sage. Remembering the place to turn. A child asleep on the father's shoulders. Paid service. Journalists. Dry dock. Turned-down pages in a well-worn book.  Finding no dust balls under the bed. Clean toilets. Garage door openers. Enough hot water left for your morning shower. Juniors who become seniors. Enough light to write. Puzzle solvers. Children eager to start school. The restoration of dignity. Mockery silenced. Things you need being within reach. Light switches.

Prayer of the Day

What about tomorrow?

Jesus said: 'Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.'

Matthew 6:34

Dear Lord,

You know what is best for us.

Help us not to worry about the future.

Because you love us all, you will take care of everything.

Devotion of the Day

Freedom from self-preoccupation. The news of a church that is growing. The healing of shame. Having the answer to a question. The squeezably soft. Fishers willing to cast their nets a second time. Those who don't hang up on you. God's provision to women in childbirth. Fellow followers in the way of Sierra Leone. Those who stay awake while on duty. God's timing. Speed and accuracy. God's methods. Brothers who don't compete. The end of the famine. The end of the drought. Hand bells. The person who will hear your confession and keep it in confidence. A head start.

Prayer of the Day

Father God,

Thank you for all animals.

You created them with love, just as you created us.

Help us to project them from those who treat them cruelly and to look after them as you look after us.

Amen.

Thank yon for what I have learned,

Thank you for all those that I love.

Help us all to sleep soundly tonight.

Amen

Sharing romantic secrets with your spouse. Roads that rise up to greet you. The closing of the deal.  Waterfalls glistening in the sun.  Courteous truckers. Deliverance from cocaine addiction.  Sunken treasure chests brought to the surface.  Longevity.  Bible colleges. Foods that are good for you and taste good too! Bonuses. Prayer of the Day

Father God,

Help us in our work each day. Give us concentration so that we may listen, understanding that we may learn, and peaceful minds so that we may remember.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
